Obituary

Donald W. Kiessling, 69 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare. He was the loving husband of Susan K. (Sanders) Kiessling; together they shared 38 years of marriage.

Born Sunday, April 20, 1947 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Walter and Margaret V. (Swisher) Kiessling.

Donnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Donnie's passion throughout his life was being a great mechanic and running a machine shop at Penn Performance, where he would rebuild engines for local race car drivers, he was always working on some type of vehicle.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by four children, son, Shaun Kiessling and his wife Clarissa of Cashtown, daughter, Dawn Kiessling of NC, daughter, Tracey Leath and her husband Aaron of NC, son, Troy Kiessling and his wife Stephanie of Thurmont, MD; sisters, Patricia Ziegler and her husband Jack and Peggy Reecher and her husband Barry, Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Lekedra and Jazmin Leath, Jonah and Colby Stoner, Mason, Madison, and Meghan Kiessling.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Prillaman.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donald will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Rd., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Patricia Arendt officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg PA 17110.
