David A. Woodward 67 of Gettysburg passed away Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Joyce A. (Bowers) Woodward his wife of 47 years.
He was born November 24, 1944 in Johnstown, PA the son of the late John Stafford and Gertrude A. (Witt) Woodward.
David served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of the VFW Post 15, Gettysburg. David enjoyed spending time with his family especially times spent boating on the lake at Codorus State Park.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David R. Woodward and his wife Lisa of Gettysburg, granddaughter, Kellsie Woodward of Gettysburg and sister, Ruth Fatzinger and her husband Rick of Lebanon, PA.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John S. Woodward, III and Denis Woodward.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Dale Williams officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Biglerville Cemetery, Biglerville, PA. Serving as pallbearers will be Leroy Bowers, Paul Bowers, Dave Bowers, Marc Cooley, Mike Moreno and Frank Moreno.
