Darlene D. Baumgardner, 83 of Gettysburg, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of Clyde W. Baumgardner, Jr. who died February 16, 2012.

She was born January 30, 1934 in Biglerville, the daughter of the late Robert, Sr. and Pauline (Ditzler) Gettier.

Darlene was a nurse's aide at Michael Manor and Green Acres, both in Gettysburg and was also a private duty nurse. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and gardening. Darlene was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer, a wonderful homemaker and excellent cook. She loved animals, especially her cats but above all she loved her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her children, Susan Sanders and husband Gerald, Gettysburg; Barry Baumgardner and wife Mercedes, Spring Grove; Betty Welty and husband Stephen, Hanover; Lisa Baumgardner and companion Larry Hower, Biglerville and Gary Baumgardner and wife Amy, Hanover, sister, Betty Spalding, Edgewater, FL; brothers, Robert and Terry Gettier, Biglerville and grandchildren, Leslie Hess and husband Ron and their children, Kurt and Anneliese, Lexington Park, MD; Stephanie McKinney and her son Carter, Biglerville; Sherry Wegley and her children, Chase, Kiera, Miles and Paige, Lakeland, FL; Westly Welty and wife Amanda, Mechanicsburg; Ashley Welty and companion Erik Kaehler, Hanover and Derek Baumgardner, Manhattan, NY.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son James Baumgardner and granddaughter Maria Welty.

A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg. A private graveside service will be held Friday, June 30, 2017. Burial will be in Biglerville Cemetery, Biglerville, PA. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Baumgardner, Derek Baumgardner, Steve Welty, Westly Welty, Erik Kaehler and Larry Hower.
