Dale O. Waldfogel, 85, of Gettysburg, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 18, 2009 at home. Married December 24, 1943, he was the husband of 65 years of Arlene (Snow) Waldfogel.
Born January 25, 1924 in Anderson, IN, he was a son of the late Charles and Lena (Seiler) Waldfogel.
After graduating from Fayette (Ohio) High School in 1942, Mr. Waldfogel worked as a farmer for several years until moving to Hudson, MI in 1953. While in Hudson, he was employed as a machine operator and supervisor with M&S Manufacturing for 35 years until his retirement in 1988.
An avid sportsman and fisherman, Mr. Waldfogel was a member of the Morenci & Blissfield Sportsman Clubs in Michigan. He especially loved archery and bowling and won state championships in both while in Michigan. Mr. Waldfogel also enjoyed making his own muzzleloader guns from scratch.
Mr. Waldfogel attended First Baptist Church in Hudson and most recently attended Memorial Baptist Church after moving to Gettysburg in September 2007.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his son, Les Waldfogel and his wife Barbara of Roseville, CA; two daughters, Janice Dawson of Citrus Heights, CA, and Nancy S. McFeaters and her husband Ken of Gettysburg; one grandson; four granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and his sister-in-law, Hazel Pike.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sylvan Waldfogel, Gerald Waldfogel, and LaRue Waldfogel; one sister, Marie Pike; and one great-grandson.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Steven F. Baker officiating. A viewing will be held between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette, OH.
