Catherine L. (Gilbert) Wiles, 84, of Gettysburg, PA, formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Wiles, with whom she shared many cherished years of marriage.

Born on Friday, October 27, 1939, in Frederick, MD, Catherine was the daughter of the late Charles E. Gilbert and Mae Elizabeth (Kauffman) Gilbert.

Catherine was a devoted homemaker, spending her life raising her children and creating a warm, loving home for her family. She worked for a time at Airpax in Frederick, MD, but her true passion was her family. A woman of many talents, she enjoyed quilting and sewing, taking pride in the countless pieces she created with love. Catherine was also an avid bingo player and found joy in camping and fishing adventures with her late husband, Charles.

Her deep faith was central to her life, and she was a dedicated member of Edgewood Church of God in Frederick, MD, where she developed lifelong friendships and strengthened her spiritual connection.

Catherine's memory will be forever cherished by her family: her two sons, Rodney Wiles and his wife Frances, and Wayne Wiles and his wife Jennifer; her grandson, Adam Wiles and his wife Crystal; and her great-grandchildren, Camron and Alyssa Wiles. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Gilbert and Helen Norris, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will all miss her warmth, humor, and unwavering love.

In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Morris Gilbert, James Edward Gilbert, and Donald Leroy Gilbert, as well as her sisters, Beatrice Viola Rice, Edna Marie Warrenfeltz, Lena Mae Norris, Frances Grace Gilbert, and Marguerite Gilbert.

There will be no public viewing. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Catherine will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD.
