Betty Jane Smith, 87, of Biglerville, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Gettysburg Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Ellis L. Smith, Jr. who died May 3, 1981.

She was born August 2, 1925 in Gettysburg the daughter of the late John and Carrie B. (Sentz) Miller.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a seasonal worker at Musselman's, Biglerville. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.

She is survived by her daughter, Cherie E. Andrews and husband Charles, Biglerville, granddaughter, Kristi Hoschar and husband Brent, Spring Grove, grandson, Gregory E. Snyder and wife Kristin, Aspers, four great grandchildren, Michael and Allison Hoschar, Spring Grove and Logan and Madison Snyder, Aspers, three step grandchildren, Megan Andrews, Camp Hill, Artie Andrews, Enola and Alex Andrews, Enola and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Snyder, Logan Snyder, Brent Hoschar, Michael Hoschar, Charles Andrews, Ken Miller and Dave Reese.
