Born April 30, 1923 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late J. Oscar and Grace (Houck) Reese.

Mrs. Fleming was employed at Murphy's 5&10 and the Autocraft Box Factory, both formerly of Hanover. Her hobbies included doing crafts, crocheting, and playing Bingo.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, James Fleming of Gettysburg, Jenny Presley of Hanover; Joseph Fleming and his wife Barbara of Las Vegas, NV, and Joy Fleming and her husband Wendell of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Patsy "Pat" Bankert of Hanover; one granddaughter, Holly Fuhrman and her husband Doug of Hanover; and two great-grandchildren, Abby Fuhrman and Joseph Fuhrman, both of Hanover.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Roland, Burnell, James, Philip, Robert and Mark "Johnny" Reese; and her son-in-law, Darrell Presley.

A funeral to celebrate the life of Betty will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, with Rev. Carl G. Harris officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be held Wednesday between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Fleming, Joseph Fleming, Doug Fuhrman, Jack Bankert and Jay Bankert.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the American Cancer Society, 924 N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
