Berkley E. Naugle, 76, of Gettysburg, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Angeles (Cazorla) Naugle.
Born December 17, 1934 in Orrtanna, he was a son of the late George W. and Dorothy M. (Biesecker) Naugle.
Mr. Naugle graduated with the Gettysburg High School class of 1952. He served his country honorably for twenty-one years as a flight engineer with the US Air Force. He proudly served in Vietnam with the "Jolly Green Giants," Det. 5, 38th Air Rescue and Recovery Service. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Naugle was employed for over twenty years as Director of Maintenance at New Cumberland Army Depot, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Naugle was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church and often attended St. Francis Xavier Church with his family. He was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion Post #202, the Gettysburg Eagles Aerie 1562, and the VFW Post 15, Gettysburg. Mr. Naugle also enjoyed working with electronics, computers, and crafting model airplanes.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his son, George Naugle and his wife Marta of Lynn Haven, FL; his daughter, Maria Jeannette Bolen and her husband Scott of York Springs; four grandchildren, Cassandra J. Naugle and Alexander D. Naugle, both of Mexico, NY; and Victoria S. Naugle and George L. Naugle, both of Lynn Haven; and his sister-in-law, Ruth Naugle of Gettysburg. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Naugle.
A Christian Burial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 22 W. High St., Gettysburg with Father Bernardo Pistone and Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman presiding. Viewing will be held beginning 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, where full military honors will be provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans Council. The Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, is in charge of arrangements.
