Bud was born in Scotland, MD on July 13, 1936 and lived in St. Inigoes, MD and moved to Gettysburg in 2010. He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, MD. He was a veteran of the US Army and later worked for McDonnell Douglas in Patuxent River, MD and Bell Motor Co. in Leonardtown, MD.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; Michael Shoemaker and his wife Leslie of Gettysburg, Janine Young and her husband David of GA, Diana Conover and her husband Jeff of PA. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Shoemaker. Bud has thirteen grandchildren; Daniel, Joseph and Erinn Shoemaker, Johanna Wilson, Elaine Merrick, Codie and Thomas Long, Connor and Isaiah Young, Tess and Tucker Bingham, Stephen and Leah Conover and two brothers; Edward and James Shoemaker. Bud also has eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 1015 Chambersburg Rd., Gettysburg. Family will receive friends after 2 pm prior to the service at the church.
