Obituary

Beatrice G. Carey, 78 of Gettysburg passed peacefully into God's eternal care on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Dean E. Carey, Sr. who died October 31, 1978.

She was born May 6, 1933 in Mummasburg the daughter of the late Phillip and Lottie Mae (Kump) Topper.

Mrs. Carey attended St. John's United Church of Christ, McKnightstown and was a member of the Cashtown Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Dean E. Carey, Jr. and his wife Susan of Orrtanna; daughter, Peggy A. Diehl and her husband David of Aspers; son-in-law, David A. Redding of Biglerville; brother, Bernard Topper of McKnightstown; sisters, Dorothy Sibrel of Gettysburg; Joyce McDannell of Arendtsville; Mary Jane Socks and her husband Peter of Biglerville; grandchildren, Heather N. Carey; Heath N. Carey; Jason A. Redding; Erin R. Green and her husband Jason; Zachary Redding; Katie Redding; Benjamin Redding; Jonathan Redding; Robert W. Haws, Jr.; Brandon C. Haws; Chad M. Diehl and his wife Emma Kate; Sarah E. Diehl; great grandchildren, Bailey Green; Kadin Green; Caydence Haws; Lucien Diehl and Owen Morrow.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Redding.

A service to celebrate the life of Beatrice G. Carey will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with her son-in-law David Redding officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean E. Carey, Jr.; David W. Diehl; Jason A. Redding; Jason Green; Robert W. Haws, Jr. and Brandon C. Haws.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Carey may be made to the American Cancer Society, 424 East Middle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
