Obituary

August A. "Auggie" Schwab, 75 of Gettysburg, passed peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the loving husband of A. Lorine (Krause) Schwab for 48 years.

Born Oct. 29, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Edna M. (Redeker) Schwab.

Mr. Schwab was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville and was a past member of the choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hanover. Auggie worked for more than thirty years for the U.S. Government as an Intelligence Officer and more recently was employed with the Commonwealth of PA with the Department of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg. Auggie was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion and the Catholic War Vets of Bonneauville. Mr. Schwab also served on the Gettysburg Rec Board for a number of years and was involved with Boy Scout troop 107 at Annunciation Church, McSherrystown for more than thirty years.

In addition to his wife Lorine, his survivors include four children; Liz Fetter and her husband Dan of Cashtown, Chris Schwab and his wife Wendy of New Oxford, Charlie Schwab and his wife Mickey of Mt. Joy and Cindy Burke and her husband Harold of Hanover; eleven grandchildren, Anna Robison, Jedidiah Fetter, Molly Fetter, Samuel Fetter, Joseph Fetter, Emma Fetter, Allison Schwab, Katelyn Schwab, Julia Schwab, Amanda Schwab and Lorena Lamb; and two great grandchildren, Emily Schmidt and Kale Burge.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday, Oct. 20 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover St., Bonneauville, PA with Father Peter DiTomasso as celebrant. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA 17325. A rosary service will be held at 7:00pm. Another viewing will be held from 10am until the time of the mass on Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery, Bonneauville, PA. Pallbearers will be Christopher Schwab, Charles Schwab, Daniel Fetter, Jedidiah Fetter, Samuel Fetter and Joseph Fetter.
