Obituary

Anna L. (Bishop) Kiessling, 87, of New Oxford and formerly of Littlestown, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Brethren Home. She was the wife of Felix Kiessling, who died August 21, 2002.

Born January 28, 1923 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Mervin and Beulah (Keckler) Bishop.

Mrs. Kiessling was a member of the Gettysburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. She attended Gettysburg High School and was employed for many years with Sandoe's Packing House in Biglerville.

In her free time, "The Travelling Grandma" loved traveling across the country with her family. She also enjoyed writing letters to family and friends and completing word finds.

Surviving are two sons, Ken Kiessling and his wife Louise of Littlestown, and Robert F. Kiessling and his wife Lorraine of Abbottstown; her daughter, Ruth Harbaugh and her husband Leon of Fairfield; her brother, Robert Bishop of Gettysburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Bechtel; and three grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Conrad Reichert officiating. Viewing will begin 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Kiessling, Bob Kiessling, Duane Harbaugh, Keith Lloyd, Tyree Berlin, and Jon Redding.
