Obituary

Alma (Hershey) Snyder, 99, of Gettysburg and formerly of Biglerville, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of 45 years of Dwight Snyder, who died in 1995.

Born November 1, 1908, in Gap, PA, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Buckwalter) Hershey.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Gettysburg, for over twenty years. Raised in Lancaster County, she was employed as a clerk at an attorney's office during which time she met her husband. Upon their marriage, Mrs. Snyder moved to Gettysburg and became a full-time homemaker. She was always known for the beautiful quilts she sewed. Mrs. Snyder was devoted to her family, and her grandchildren were the joys of her life.

Surviving is her daughter, Gail Snyder of Gettysburg; four brothers; three sisters; three granddaughters, Shelley Funt of Gettysburg, Laurie Funt of Hanover, and Julie Funt of Gettysburg; and her great-grandson, Jared Funt. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Funt; her son, Nevin Snyder; two brothers; and two sisters.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Steven F. Baker officiating. A viewing will be held between 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
