Alice M. (Agnew) Austin, 84, of Carlisle and formerly of Bendersville went with God Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. She was the wife of Donald S. Austin, Sr., who died in 1986.

Born April 29, 1926 in Conifer, NY, she was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Melvina (Sulia) Agnew.

Mrs. Austin was a former member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Buchanan Valley, where she enjoyed helping with the church picnic for many years. She was employed at a number of local businesses, including Dal-Tile, Pfaltzgraff, Duffy Mott's, and, most recently, Knouse Foods.

Surviving are two sons, Anthony C. Austin and his wife Linda of Gardners, and Donald S. Austin, Jr. and his wife Debra of Carlisle; her daughter, Annette Austin Bream Dragas of Carlisle; two brothers, Edward Agnew and his wife Jane, and Elmer Agnew, both of Morrisonville, NY, her sister, Elizabeth Carter of Saranac, NY; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Charles Agnew; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 22 W. High St., Gettysburg, with Fr. Jonathan Sawicki as celebrant Viewing will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg with the vigil service at 7:30 p.m. A second viewing will begin 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home before processing to the church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Austin, Donald Austin, Jr., Michael Bream, Donald Bream, Sr., Donald Bream, Jr., and Steven Austin.
