Obituary

Alan Vincent Gillespie, 56, of Gettysburg passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD. He was the loving husband of Sherry K. (Valentine) Gillespie, Gettysburg. Together they celebrated 28 years of marriage on May 18, 2013.

He was born October 20, 1957 in Gettysburg the son of Bill M. Gillespie, Fairfield and the late Agnes I. (Haley) Gillespie.

Alan graduated from Catoctin High School, Thurmont, MD and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He loved tending his roses, was an avid coin collector and a fan of NASCAR. His memberships included the Amvets Post 7 and the American Legion Post 0168 both in Thurmont, MD.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Petko and husband Josh, Pasadena, MD and Janice Creese and husband Jason, Plumas Lake, CA and sisters, Cindy Marshall and husband Bruce, Fairfield and Yvonne Gillespie, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Gillespie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
